The leader of the beastmen
If Ente were to describe their vehicle at a glance, it would be like,
…a beetle.
…that’s how it looked like.
The two straight protruding horns had holes at their tips, which might possibly possess similar abilities to the tubes carried by the beastmen soldiers….
In the place where beetles and such would have wings that can open and close, seats were instead installed.
On the seats, she could see a young man gripping a rod resembling antennae at the front, and a girl clinging to the young man.
From the bottom and back of the vehicle, mysterious lights were emitted, presumably providing levitation and propulsion force….
“He is waving to the beastmen….
Does that mean that man is their leader?”
Just as Ente said….
The young man who released one hand from the rod waved to the beastmen in the sky, while the beastmen holding tubes respectfully responded to it.
The hierarchy was clear, but what was unclear was that the young man was not a beastman but a completely ordinary human being.
What kind of relationship do they really have….
As Ente was Lost in thought, the vehicle carrying the man and woman rapidly approached the settlement.
Unlike the beastmen who floated close to the defensive wall, everyone watched as they landed gracefully on the path built on the wall.
“Apologies for the sudden visit!”
The young man, who seemed to have controlled the vehicle holding the pole, raised his voice confidently as he disembarked.
His commanding tone was unique to someone accustomed to giving orders.
Following him, a girl got off the vehicle, and as they were surrounded by wary elves, they walked towards Ente.
It was clear that the man standing next to her, Senior Forusha, was the leader of the district.
“Who are you people!?”
They owed a debt for a rescue to the beastmen under his command.
Therefore, they refrained from drawing their bows… but…
Stepping forward to protect her father, Ente was the first to speak, addressing the doubts of all the elves present.
Compared to the beastman soldiers clad in equipment made of unknown technology, the man and woman in familiar attire stood out.
The man’s attire resembled that of a traveler…
While the girl’s delicate outfit seemed to be tailored by a renowned craftsman… a fact that made Ente slightly jealous.
“I am…”
Before she could finish…
The young man’s eyes narrowed.
A shiver ran down her spine, but her body couldn’t react in time.
However, the elf girl, proud of her archery skills, caught his movement with certainty.
In that intense moment…
The young man swiftly reached into his pocket.
Almost simultaneously, his hand shot out of his pocket at an incredible speed…
He was holding a single cylinder that seemed to be a miniaturized version of the tubes carried by the beastman soldiers.
The end of the cylinder… with a hole aimed at Ente, shot out the familiar beam of light!
In the blink of an eye!
…It was an unbelievably quick move.
Ente, frozen except for her eyes, was she marked with the same burnt hole as the monsters unable to react?
The answer was - no.
There was a sound of something falling…
As she turned suddenly, there lay the corpse of the monster.
Commonly known as the assassin bee, a species.
Around twenty centimeters in size…
Considerably large for an insect, yet almost silent in flight and exceptionally skilled at masking its presence.
Fortunately, they were not numerous, but their poison was so potent that without prompt treatment, it could lead to death.
Unnoticed, it had crept up behind her.
Likely a final strike of retreating monsters.
The young man noticed it, swiftly eliminating the threat.
“Excuse me.
I saw that time was of the essence with no time for warnings.”
The young man stowed away the cylinder slowly this time, smiling as he spoke.
And then, he introduced himself anew.
“My name is Asuru!
Grandson of Geese! Son of Gustav!
And…”
“The one who inherited the ancient legacy, right?”
The father who had quietly observed the whole exchange cut off the words of the young man named Asuru.
Asuru seemed somewhat surprised by that…
“Indeed!”
He nodded strongly.
“I am Forusha, the ruler of the autonomous district.
Asuru-dono.
You may have doubts about why I know about the legacy.
I feel like explaining that, but for now, I would like to talk about the imminent crisis.
Is that alright with you?”
“Of course.
Although they have withdrawn once, they will likely launch another major offensive after some time.”
“Yes.
Well, first, bring your companions down to the settlement.
We Elves have a culture of welcoming benefactors.”
“Understood.”
The young man named Asuru signaled the beastman soldiers in the sky with his hands to come down.
Not only that, he took out a strange foldable wooden board from his pocket and began muttering to himself something.
In the midst of all this flow, Ente couldn’t intervene in any way…
In fact, she was only unilaterally rescued in a way…
The young elven girl found it rather irritating.
“What are you doing!?
Get the food ready immediately!
And prepare the tea!”
So, in a somewhat frustrated tone…
She gave orders like that to the elves who were just as swept along as herself.
